Our Certified Yoga Teachers in Taichung

Eric -- Tatiana -- Suru

Eric in Eka Pada Bhujapidasana

Eric - Founder/Director, Raja Yogi, and RYT

I opened my first book of yoga in 2001. I quickly saw the beauty and strength in every posture, and I read about their huge ability to improve one's life. I began to practice on my own, and over the next eight years I found several great teachers, more and more peace in my mind, and more energy in my body.

Two years ago, on my way to Taiwan, I took my first trip through India. I was fascinated by the sounds and the colors, and by a depth of spirituality that I had never encountered back home. I began to realize that yoga could give me more than good health and stress relief; it could connect me to a deeper identity, a clearer purpose, and a happier, more meaningful life.

I returned to India last summer to study yoga intensively, and became certified to teach in the process. I was and am amazed by the rewards of a focused, committed practice, and I'm thrilled to be sharing this deep and beautiful tradition with the world.

Tatiana in Natarajasana

Tatiana - Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher and Yogini

I was born in Russia, before the collapse of the communist regime. As I witnessed and took part in my countrymen's mental breakthrough, I learned that nothing is as it seems, and I began to wonder more deeply about the world around me. This quest for the Truth brought me to Taiwan, where I had my first yoga practice in 2006.

Yoga gave answers to my questions, helped me stop searching and taught me how to enjoy every moment of my being. I love all the changes that yoga brings to my life. It can transform one’s perception, until they no longer see good or bad, just reality as it is.

I was certified as an Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher last summer in Mysore, India. Since that time I have had the urge to spread the knowledge to others, and I will be happy to assist anyone to stretch both their bodies and minds and bring harmony to their lives.

Suru in Virabhadrasana III

Suru - Iyengar Teacher and Yogini

While traveling and living in India from 2007 to 2010, I learned the ancient art of yoga in the Hindu sacred town of Rishikesh. Between the beautiful Himalayas and the sacred river Ganges, I met my first Guru, Rudra Dave. Rudra was a Hindu sage and a disciple of Swami Sivananda, with over 30 years of experience teaching yoga. I was greatly inspired by his asana techniques, but also by his unique creativity, rich spiritual knowledge, compassion and warmth. He showed me that yoga is not only poses, it is a manifestation of personality and an ancient art that leads the way to the inner self and to inner peace.

I am also inspired by Vipassana meditation. Over more than ten years, I have completed many courses in both India and Taiwan. Vipassana has given me greater awareness of mind and of body. I believe that awareness is the basis of yoga; without mindfulness, asanas become mechanical postures that lack vitality and grace. The goal of asana is not to make your body slim and thin, but to connect with your inner being, first by exploring your physical body and then proceeding from the outer layer to the inner layers.

I am also interested in Tibetan culture, and I am the editor of www.wisdom-light.com.tw.
